Ericsson Says Yes To TD-SCDMA
Last week, Ericsson said it was drastically scaling back its CDMA infrastructure business... and this week, they announce that they're building up their TD-SCDMA business. Think that's a clue as to where Ericsson sees the money flowing? Even though TD-SCDMA is still developing very slowly, the Chinese government's infatuation with having their own standard means that, if the kinks get worked out, there's quite a large market for the technology. Ericsson apparently sees that as a bigger opportunity than CDMA, but it seems like a big bet to drop out of an established and growing market for one that, so far, has been problematic.
