Kodiak PTT Technology To Be On Samsung Phones
Samsung and Kodiak have announced a deal to include the Kodiak client on an undisclosed number of Samsung mobile terminals. The Kodiak PTT client is a proprietary implementation using their client and server technologies. While carriers eschew the proprietary nature of the Kodiak solution, it has the redeeming characteristic of low latency, and low call setup times. We like to see some different alternatives to solving PTT, but are concerned about eventual interoperability. PTT, like the telephone, would have limited usefulness if one can only talk to a subset of people. It's when the communication networks are interoperable that we extract maximum benefits.
