Fastap Doubles Messaging?

We've been following the progress of Digit Wireless and their Fastap keypad concept for some time -- and have always thought it was a great idea, if only handset makers would get on board. The concept is to place letter keys in the spaces between the number keys on a standard keyboard. Even though the keys are tiny, the software is designed to recognize what you're pressing, by what you press around it as well. It's a simple, yet effective, idea. If you play around with a Fastap enabled keyboard for a few minuetes, you immediately understand why it's powerful. However, handset makers have been slow to jump on, as it is somewhat different. Carriers also haven't been demanding it that much. Telus, an early investor in the company, however, did take the plunge, and they're now reporting that subscribers who have Fastap enabled phones are sending twice as many text messages. Certainly makes you wonder if other carriers will sit up and take notice.
