Sued Over Predictive Texting

The University of Texas apparently is not happy with 14 different electronics makers for offering some kind of predictive texting on telephone keypads. The article at RCR News is a bit weak, suggesting that the patent is just for "text messaging through a standard telephone keypad", when the actual patent shows that it's more about a rudimentary form of predictive texting. Still, the patent does seem fairly broad, and it seems unlikely that anyone offering predictive texting did so because of this, rather than the somewhat obvious need when people started text messaging to have better solutions for inputting text.
