Vodafone Announces Standards-Based DRM

Yesterday we discussed how the OMA DRM platform was expected to grow in usage, and today we see that Vodafone has selected a OMA-compliant DRM standard for their Live! rich media services around the world. That's good news. Vodafone will partner with DRM vendor CoreMedia for their implementation of the OMA standard. The more major carriers that announce their compliance with OMA standards early, the more likely it will be that we have a true industry-wide standard for DRM, which is good for consumers, media companies, and telecom corporations alike.
