Motorola Betting On 3G
Motorola has been losing marketshare to Samsung over the last few quarters, and today they've announced their strategy is basically... um... more of the same. They're saying that they believe they'll survive by focusing on higher end W-CDMA 3G phones... as if no one else has thought of or prepared for that strategy as well. Samsung is obviously working on 3G phones as well, so it's unclear how this gives Motorola any special advantage. Besides, at this point, 3G is still a niche, but growing, market -- but is unlikely to be a major marketshare booster for anyone.
