SMS Still King Of The Data Heap
Frankly, the only thing that's surprising about this story is that some find it surprising. Moconews points out SMS still leads the way for data revenue for GSM carriers. Meanwhile, the carriers continue to waste time thinking they need to come up with "compelling" data applications on their own to encourage usage. Mobile phones are about communicating. Voice calls and SMS are about communicating. Yet, the carriers still insist that it's somehow a broadcast platform, and each time they do, more money goes down the drain.
