Pushing For UMTS In China
While the Chinese government has been taking its sweet, sweet time when it comes to issuing 3G licenses, the UMTS forum is clearly getting a little impatient and are starting to push to get the Chinese government to move forward -- saying that the technology is clearly ready, and even suggesting that China's preferred TD-SCDMA offering is "an effective complement" to W-CDMA. It's been clear for a while that a lot of equipment vendors are drooling over the Chinese market, but so far, they've shown little inclination towards rushing to a decision.
