Give Us Dumb Phones
For all this talk of smartphones, it looks like some just aren't interested. Asian telecom execs at 3GSM were trying to point out to handset makers that, while selling high end smartphones may be good, they're missing out on huge Asian markets who just want cheap dumb phones in order to jump into the mobile market. In other words, they're suggesting that the handset makers have already moved upstream, forgetting all of the untapped developing Asian markets they could service in their ongoing quest to build more expensive, feature-filled phones.
