Intel Kills Plans For PC Access Point

Intel has decided to kill off plans to offer desktop PCs with a built in access point after everyone started telling them, "yo, access points are incredibly cheap -- no one needs this." In fact, adding the feature to the PC would cost more than having it as a separate access point and would make it much more difficult to upgrade or replace if something went wrong (and, having a few dead WiFi routers collecting dust, I can say for certain that things do go wrong). Sometimes, converged items really shouldn't be converged. It seems like a much more interesting concept is to do something like just adding networked storage to the access point (though, again, you have the breakage/upgrade problem). The thing is, honestly, you want to place your access point in the place where it will best cover the area you want covered -- and that's often not the best place for a PC.
