WiMax Backlash

Texas Instrument, who certainly isn't thrilled about the idea of Intel dominating in any part of the wireless world, appears to be fueling the growing backlash against WiMax. They're now saying that WiMax probably won't be that successful as a DSL replacement, however where it gets much more interesting is when (if) WiMax gets around to adding mobility (which might sound familiar). All in all, a little pre-release WiMax backlash might be a healthy thing, as the industry has a long history of overpromising and under-delivering on wireless technologies. With so many people thinking WiMax is the second coming of WiFi (only bigger!), the hype has been threatening to completely strangle the reality.
