Bluetooth Keeps Growing

While it's still fun for many to predict the death of Bluetooth (especially in light of Ericsson's recent moves), it looks like no one told the folks actually making Bluetooth enabled devices. Back in June we noted that 2 million Bluetooth chips were shipping every week, only 9 months after that number had been 1 million. Well, now, just three months later, it turns out that three million Bluetooth chips are shipping per week. There certainly are challenges, and Bluetooth is likely to be surpassed at some point, but it is the wireless technology of choice for short-range wireless connections right now, and it's not as easy as some would have you believe to knock someone off their pedestal when the installed base is so big.
