Roaming Rate Relief - For a While
In January 2003 we discussed how international roaming with a cell phone was a very expensive proposition. As of this week, and in time for the Olympics, AT&T Wireless is offering European roaming for as little as US$0.89 per minute. To access these rates, subscribers must opt in for a $6 a month service fee, but the lower per minute rates could quickly recoup that fee. (We've seen a number of carriers charge $4/min for US customers roaming in the EU!) The only problem we see with the low rates is that they are only temporary, and will increase from 10-40% when the promotion ends in October.
