Alvarion Goes Mobile
Alvarion continues to grow by acquisition. They've now bought 3G equipment maker Interwave for $56 million. Interwave makes GSM and CDMA-based wireless boxes for carriers, which should expand Alvarion's business, while giving them a good base of knowledge for the point when WiMAX moves from a fixed wireless solution to a mobile one. Already doing well, it looks like Alvarion is really looking for opportunities to become the absolute dominant player in the wireless broadband equipment space.
