NY Times Discovers Phones Come With Keyboards These Days

While they've been around for quite some time now, it appears that the NY Times has only just discovered that mobile phones with full QWERTY keyboards are hitting the market. They even got their article out more than two weeks later than USA Today's almost identical article. The article never once mentions the success of the Blackberry as a forerunner to all these QWERTY keyboards and fails to mention just how long devices like the Hiptop and the Treo 600 have been on the market, as any of those things might show how far behind they were. It's true that a number of new keyboard toting devices are hitting the market, but is it necessarily a new thing, or just an obvious extension of where the phones have been heading?

People actually Want keyboards? They actually want Tactile Interfaces? Who woulda thunk it? Could it be that despite the fact that they’ve been crammed down our throats, people don’t want ‘Touch Screen’ interfaces?
