How Quickly Will Mobile Subscriptions Grow?
EMC is now predicting that with rapid growth in mobile phone subscribers this year and next, the world should have over two billion mobile phone subscribers by the middle of 2006. That's quite a large number, and not everyone agrees. The Yankee Group apparently expects 2 billion subscribers by 2010. It's likely that it will depend on the speed of mobile phone adoption in high population nations China and India -- and both have shown fairly quick adoption rates lately, so the earlier numbers may not be that ridiculous.
