Here Comes UMTS
A new report claims that UMTS 3G service is being deployed around the world at a rate much faster than GSM. Of course, the article doesn't quite define how they measure this. Networks may be deployed just as fast, if not faster, but that doesn't mean it's being accepted as fast. Considering the attention high speed wireless data services are getting these days, it's no surprise at all that there would be more UMTS deployments in progress. More companies understand the potential payoff -- but that doesn't mean they're going to do a particularly good job of implementing the technology.
