Time For Some Power Reduction
It's the not-particularly-dirty-secret of the 3G industry, but the phones are power hogs. In order to deal with this issue, which has been a factor in the slower-than-hyped adoption of 3G phones, just about everyone is trying to figure out ways to reduce the power in every single part of the phones' design. Almost every component maker is looking at ways to reduce power consumption needs. Of course, there isn't as much talk about the other side of the equation - boosting battery performance, though perhaps that's because many people have given up on that aspect until fuel cells come around (though, some of us think fuel cells are overhyped as well).
