Text Spammers Fined

Everyone keeps hoping that text spam won't get out of hand to the extent that email spam has. One way to do so is to cut it off early, and as harshly as possible, to get those considering a career in text spamming to give it a second thought. Over in the UK, some text spammers and scammers have been fined £450,000 for various spamming and scamming activities - including the popular scam of calling mobile phones and hanging up before someone can pick up - only to have them call back a pay number that charges quite a lot in per minute fees. Who knows if the fines will have much of an impact, but at least something is being done early.
