Symbian Doing Well Despite Boardroom Battles
Despite the ongoing battle for control of Symbian, it appears the operating system is doing quite well. The latest report shows that the number of Symbian OS handsets more than doubled last quarter. Of course, in typical numbers announcing fashion that "doubled" is a little misleading. It doubled from the first quarter of 2003, not the previous quarter (Q4 2003). In fact, revenue actually dropped from Q4 - though, that may be a seasonal thing (people buy more new handsets as gifts in Q4).
