Brits Keep On Texting
Everyone knew that text messaging was big in the UK, but it seems to keep getting bigger. Last month, 2.1 billion text messages were sent - an increase of 25% over the previous year. I don't think this is all that surprising - as many people are relying increasingly on text messaging for social communication, usage begins to feed on itself. If everyone else is messaging, you feel compelled to do so as well - and then, as you get more comfortable with it, it becomes second nature. Also, as it becomes more popular, it's getting added into other things, such as the ability to text message a radio station or TV show - opening more opportunities for use.
