Eye4Wireless: The Latest On WiMax
The early part of the conference is focused on that status and potential of WiMax - which is pretty much where you probably thought it was before: there's a lot of buzz and the lots of companies signing on to support WiMax, and the standard will show up eventually. For fairly good reasons, WiMax is expected to follow a similar path to other standardized connection technologies like ethernet and WiFi: existing proprietary solutions --> standardization --> low cost manufacturing --> profit! Oh yeah, and lots and lots of connectivity. There's also a lot of talk about how many companies are jumping on the WiMax bandwagon, including some big name telcos (which apparently won't be officially announced until Monday).
