DoCoMo Goes Flat Rate

We've been saying this for years, but wireless carriers who think they're going to be able to charger per byte for data are only causing problems. Users don't know how much a byte is, and often don't realize how much they're getting charged for doing something. It's especially bad if they end up downloading something that's much larger than they expected. However, people always pointed to examples (such as i-mode) where per byte pricing was working. Now, however, DoCoMo has switched to a flat-rate model as well, admitting that it's much more customer friendly. Also, it adds much more incentive for people to actually use their data services, which means many more opportunities for new data services to be offered (meaning more users for DoCoMo).
