Bye Bye To Isle Of Man 3G
About two years after they first launched UMTS 3G service on the Isle of Man, mmO2 is shutting down the network. They claim that it was never intended to be permanent and was merely a pilot test. Still, the whole thing is odd. Once you have a network up, why bother shutting it down and forcing people to shift to slower GPRS networks? We had always been curious about testing it on the Isle of Man as we were unclear what mm02 could actually prove there. The answer seems to be "not very much."
