Terabeam Sold Off
Terabeam got a ton of press coverage when they first launched their plans to offer wireless broadband by beaming lasers across cityscapes (though, they ran into some problems on cloudy days). The company never lived up to the hype at all and now has been sold off for next to nothing to YDI Wireless. I think the history of the wireless industry (unfortunately) is still summed up by the phrase "never lived up to the hype." That's not to say the technology doesn't have tremendous potential, but this industry gets way too caught up in its own hype.
