Where Are The News Companies At CTIA?
Vin Crosbie has been outspoken about his ideas on how the news industry needs to reinvent itself. He believes they need to focus on much more customized content, pulling content from a variety of sources and giving a specific set of content to each end user based on his or her preferences. As part of that, the content needs to be deliverable on multiple devices - with a specific focus on wireless devices. With that said, it's no surprise that he's upset that the news industry is mostly absent from CTIA (other than the slew of reporters, of course). The entertainment industry knows to show up and exhibit at CTIA and talk with the wireless companies - but the news companies haven't figured it out yet. This is, of course, because the news industry believes they're in the industry of writing the news - not delivering the news.
