The Mobile Phone Lottery - Play Early And Often
When I was a kid, I worked after school and on weekends at a card shop manning the lottery machine. I got to see the sorts of people who are somewhat obsessive about getting their lottery ticket early and often. For those people, I'm not so sure it's a good thing to make it even easier to buy a lottery ticket. A lottery transaction processor has agreed to offer a mobile payment solution, so that people will be able to pick their numbers, submit it and pay - all on their mobile phone. They'll also be informed when they don't win (or, in the very unlikely case when they do). The article isn't entirely clear where this will be offered (it says "around the world"), but I imagine it won't be offered in the US (where they're just now trying to figure out if online lotteries are legal.
