UK Government Upbeat About 3G... Just Because
The UK government is now saying that they think 2004 will be a big year for 3G because... well, they don't really say why. It just is, okay? Basically, it sounds more like a pep talk "3G really is going to catch on this year, finally. Really." The only evidence they give is that Hutchison's 3 is out there - though, they've been anything but a success. Others are starting to test their networks, but there's no real indication that they'll definitely catch on just yet. Of course 3G networks will catch on over time. I don't think anyone doubts that. At this point, though, it's more in spite of the hype, rather than because of it.
