Simpay Announces Product That Sounds Like... Their Product
Last summer, a group of European carriers got together to form Simpay after realizing that the Mobile Payments Services Association didn't have quite the same ring to it. At the time, they announced Simpay would work on a product to let people pay for items under 10 euros with their mobile phone. So, I guess it's no big surprise to hear that their first product is to be a system to let people pay for goods under 10 euros with their mobile phone. In other words, they're announcing a product that they already announced. The real news here is that they've finished creating the spec, which is a nice milestone, but not all that useful until people can actually start using it.
