The Multiplayer Mobile Games Are In Korea

Aha! We've been saying for a while that the real deal with mobile data is always going to be about two-way (or more) communications. The reason people want a mobile phone is to communicate - not to be talked to. It's not a broadcast medium, but a communications one. Just last week we were asking where all the wireless multiplayer games were, and now we find out from Justin Hall that they're over in Korea. This shouldn't be a surprise, of course, as Korea is known for being an early adopter for both wireless networks and multiplayer games. So, it was only a matter of time until these two things converged. As many tech companies now look to South Korea as an "early warning" system for US tech trends, this is a good sign. It may take a little while longer, but real mobile gaming should be on its way.
