UWB Startup Scores Lots Of Cash
Despite the ongoing in-fighting over the UWB standard, it seems that some VCs have no problems placing bets on the space. Aleron has announced that they've rasied $31.5 million - described as "the largest investment yet in the industry". That's usually a bad sign. When something is announced as the "largest investment yet" in a space, some other VCs feel the need to come along and make sure their play has more money, so you get a quick ramp-up bubble as companies get overfunded for the sake of showing off how much funding they got - rather than focusing on raising the right amount of funds to accomplish what the company needs to accomplish.
