When something is announced as the "largest investment yet" in a space, some other VCs feel the need to come along and make sure their play has more money, so you get a quick ramp-up bubble as companies get overfunded for the sake of showing off how much funding they got - rather than focusing on raising the right amount of funds to accomplish what the company needs to accomplish.
