WiFi Train Not Up To Speed Just Yet
Last week we wrote about one of the various WiFi-enabled train offerings in the UK. From the description it sounded good, but lots of stuff sounds good from the description. Martin Little over at Mobitopia took a ride on the GNER train and tried out their "free" WiFi and discovered that it was painfully slow - as in unusable for part of the ride, and passable for the rest. Not exactly a ringing endorsement. In fact, it appears that he got a better cellular connection than the WiFi connection - and the whole point of the WiFi offering is better bandwidth. Not that encouraging, but it is still very early, and hopefully they can work out the bugs.
