Time For A Wireless Mesh Standard?
Now that everyone is talking about mesh networking again, Intel and Cisco are suddenly interested in coming up with a standard for mesh networking. Of course, this strikes fear into the hearts of any number of startups that are already coming to market with their own mesh networking products, who can predict the infighting that will be involved in getting a standard approved - and the work it will require for them once such a standard does come about. On the whole, having standards set is a good thing for the market. However, as anyone involved in setting standards can tell you, the process itself is pretty hellish.
