UK Driving While Yakking Law In Effect
Over in the UK, the no-driving-while-yakking law has gone into effect - though not everyone is sure how it will be enforced. Police are still figuring out the details, and apparently, England and Wales are giving drivers a two month grace period. Drivers in Scotland, however, aren't so lucky, and it wasn't long before the first driver was charged under the new law. Of course, in that case, the woman was also charged with drunk driving at the same time - so she's probably got bigger problems to deal with than a small fine. It will be interesting to see if the enforcement holds up or, like in New York, everyone just starts ignoring it. I spent the last week and a half in New York and saw just as many people driving-while-yakking as I do in California where no such law is in place.
