Will TV Phones In EU Require Extra License Fees?
The latest trend in handsets is to add a television receiver. We've heard about plans from Samsung, Sony and Nokia to all add TV tuners to their phones. Now, however, some are pointing out that (at least in Europe) those phones might cost a bit extra due to television license fees that are often used to pay for public broadcasting. The article includes a great quote from the "director of television fee administration" in Finland, basically saying "hey, if you can afford to buy something as extravagant as a phone with a TV in it, then you can afford to pay us our tax as well, so stop complaining and pay up."
