Where Nextel's Deer And Antennalope Play

If you've seen the latest Nextel commercials about their new "nationwide" version of their DirectConnect push-to-talk feature, you've probably laughed at their "antennalope" spot - where they joke that the system works by passing the signal through special antennas worn by antelope across the nation. Popular Mechanics claims to take a more serious look at how coast-to-coast push-to-talk on Nextel's system works. It's a pretty basic overview - and if you're familiar with iDEN, then there's not much new that you'll learn. Still, it's a straightforward explanation of how their system works. Found via Gizmodo.
