The Wireless Backpack Server

I've seen a few WiFi hard drives coming on the market over the past year or so, but now there's one that's specifically targeted for mobile users. It's called a backpack server, and will let corporations bring their files with them, and set up a local server with WiFi anywhere in the world. Of course, that still leaves open the question of backhaul, but you could see how such a solution would be useful if you ever have a bunch of folks who need to descend on a specific area quickly, and will all need access to the same files on a server. The article raves about the device, but, honestly, if backhaul is available, and you could set up your own VPN connection to a server back at the office, do you really need this?
