Does The Average Person Need To Know What UMTS Is?

This is quite the bizarre study. A research firm has put out a report saying that 58% of Germans don't know what UMTS is, while 29% know what it is and the other 13% have heard of it, but don't know what is it. My first thought after being amazed that even 29% of the population knows what is is was who the hell cares? Why are they so concerned that people know what an acronym is, rather than what it's useful for? If you want a snapshot of the problems the wireless industry has in getting people to adopt new wireless technologies, this is it. They're too focused on the technology itself, rather than what problem it helps people solve.
