Cometa CEO Says WiFi Hype Is Damaging?
We're going to give Ted Schell, Cometa's CEO, the benefit of the doubt for now, since he is fairly new to the company, but it's a bit surprising to hear him say that WiFi hype is damaging to the industry - since Cometa has produced an awful lot of that hype. Admittedly, he did also say that he was speaking for himself, and not the company. To his benefit, it sounds like he also made plenty of good points about WiFi business models - pointing out that it's not a business on its own, but rather a "feature" of some other business. He also made the argument that adding hotspots to brand name storefronts makes sense because it's a lot easier for business people to ask someone where the nearest McDonald's or Starbucks is than where the nearest hotspot is.
