WiFi Based Credit Card Transactions

More creative uses of WiFi are coming out. The latest is this story about PayJunction's new WiFi based credit card transaction processing system. This way companies can process credit cards anywhere where they have a WiFi connection. This could be useful for things like letting waitstaff run credit cards directly at a table or making it easy to process credit cards at places like flea markets or convention centers. Of course, the big question with any WiFi based system like this is just how secure it is. The article doesn't have many details, but I'm sure it's a question PayJunction has a well-rehearsed answer for (whether or not that satisfies people is another question). Still, it's yet another example of people using wireless technologies being used beyond the way most people initially think about it.
