Logan Makes WiFi Plans Official

While it wasn't particularly secret, Logan Airport in Boston has now officially announced their WiFi plans. It sounds pretty typical. They want to charge people $6 to $7 a day to connect - a price that probably is reasonable in an airport, since there's no real WiFi competition. However, it would probably make sense to offer cheaper plans for folks who just want to download some email between flights. The one-price-fits-all strategy doesn't really work in an airport where people will use the technology for many different reasons and lengths of time. If the pricing is seen as too expensive, users are going to increasingly shift their time to access over cellular networks instead. Meanwhile, they also say they hope to sign deals with providers like T-Mobile, Wayport and Boingo to let their users roam at Logan. This is a bit backwards compared to how T-Mobile and Wayport usually do deals - since they like to build their own access points out (and T-Mobile, so far, has not been at all open to roaming agreements with others).
