Portland Sees WiFi As Good For Business

More big municipalities are getting into the game. Up in Portland, where WiFi adoption rates have already been strong, the city is looking at ways to expand WiFi coverage, noting that it's a good thing for business, and it makes Portland look like a much more connected city. Part of the proposal currently being discussed would have access points put on government buildings, with basic service offered for free (and expanded services offered at a price). Later on, they would look to sign deals with carriers or aggregators to offer WiFi as part of whatever service plans they have. Who needs Cometa when the city is going to do it themselves?
