No Mobile Phones At The Race Course
Yet another place is banning mobile phones. It's not camera phones they're worried about this time, though. The phones are being banned from jockeys and grooms at British horse racing courses, because they're afraid the jockeys are tipping off betters on how to bet. The jockeys, as you might imagine, are not pleased - saying that it's unfair to treat them like criminals. This is typical "new technology" backlash. As people discover that there are potential "bad" uses of a technology, they overreact by banning the technology completely, rather than looking for reasonable solutions.
