Drop In Hotspots - No Wires Needed
Nice article about the new device from IP Wireless and Possio that is designed to be a drop-in wireless hotspot that spits out WiFi and Bluetooth, but doesn't need a wired backhaul. Instead, of course, it's using IP Wireless' broadband wireless technology, which is targeted at carriers as an overlay on their current networks. This demonstrates a bit more about IP Wireless' strategy to fit in in a world where WiFi is catching on. They also point out how such a system can be useful for things like adding WiFi in mobile situations - such as on a bus. It all sounds nice, though, I'd like to see how well it works before we start singing any praises.
