Centrino Does Lead To Longer Battery Life?

Back in March we wrote about Guy Kewney blasting claims that a Centrino chip actually meant longer battery life for laptops - especially ones that were using WiFi. IBM apparently took him up on the challenge and sent him a laptop to test out. Now, Kewney is admitting that, while the battery doesn't fully live up to some of the promotional materials (saying 11 - 13 hours battery life) he got a good eight hours out of it, and is willing to admit that he was wrong. Meanwhile, my pre-Centrino laptop with batteries that were promised at 3 hours is having a good day if it can make it past the 1.5 hour mark. So, it's good to hear that new technology means I won't need to always been in search of an outlet if I want to use my laptop.
