Wireline-To-Wireless Number Portability Expected To Shake Things Up
Despite folks at Qwest claiming that wireline-to-wireless number portability simply wasn't possible, Gartner is predicting not only that it's possible, but that it will definitely happen and (more importantly) it will have a big impact on the telecom world, with up to 10% of wireline customers switching their numbers of to wireless carriers in short order once the option becomes available. The wireline guys who spun off their wireless divisions probably aren't feeling so hot all of a sudden.
