Anti-SMS Spam Filter Technology
It was only a matter of time. Realizing that SMS spam is an increasing problem, a European company, bmd wireless, has taken a page from email anti-spam firms and has created a system to let users filter their SMS messages. Not surprisingly, the system is designed to be put in place by wireless carriers - which are only like to hinder adoption. While it makes sense from the company's side (especially based on how closed off the carriers like to keep their networks), it makes it that much harder to get it into the hands of the end-users who need it. Were it possible to offer the same sort of solution directly to end users, I imagine they'd be faster to pick up on it.
