A $1 Wager That Warchalking Does Not Exist

Last week we had an article saying that warchalking had died and giving various reasons why we didn't think it was ever really meant to catch on. Now, found over at Politech is the news that someone is saying warchalking was entirely a media phenomenon. To prove his point, he is making a $1 bet that no one uses warchalking. I'd agree that it was probably mostly a media frenzy. I don't think it was ever really even meant to be useful, but was created mostly on a whim for fun. Of course, the media didn't quite get that part.

I thought everyone who actually knew what warchalking was, accepted that it was just a geek joke cooked up over one too many garlic shots in a Soho bar by Matt Jones. A brilliant idea with absolutely no real world use... But it did serve to pump up the hype and gave a whole load of journalists an easy story to write.
