Many Companies Lack Wi-Fi Security
Leave it to an analyst firm to remind us of the obvious. As has been discussed in about fifty reports before this one, Jupiter Research tells us that many companies pay no attention to WiFi security. That's not news. Of course, like every other report, this one fails to state what the real risks are. The fact is, many companies don't bother with WiFi security, because they realize the actual risks aren't that big. Yes, it would be nice if there were better security solutions out there, but for all the hype over poor WiFi security, there hasn't been a single story talking about how someone broke into a corporate network and stole sensitive data. I'm not saying that it hasn't happened (I'm sure it has...) but the expected risk to most companies just isn't that high - and, thus, they won't care about security until it's (a) cheap and (b) easy to set up and use.
