Worldcom To Build Wireless Network In Baghdad
Worldcom has apparently won the contract to build a wireless network in Baghdad. A couple of quick thoughts: (1) Worldcom? Aren't they bankrupt? (2) Wait, a second. I thought they ditched the name Worldcom already and are now just going by MCI? (3) What the hell are they thinking? This is the company that couldn't even manage a wireless network in the US and got completely out of the business. (4) For all the hype from a confused (Qualcomm-backed) Senator, this isn't going to be CDMA. Worldcom is going GSM for this one. Qualcomm apparently didn't get their money's worth from the Senator.
